Unfortunately on May 25th 1992, his prayer seemed unanswered when Derek was born blind. Seventeen years later Derek decided that despite his blindness he still wanted to surf and that he wanted to surf Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu. Through the encouragement of his parents, best friend, and surf coach, Derek embarked on a three-year journey of grueling mental, physical and spiritual training. As Derek perseveres towards his goal of surfing Pipeline, he inspires the best pro-surfers in the world including Kelly Slater, Damien Hobgood, Rob Machado, Lakey Peterson, Taj Burrow, Laird Hamilton and more, who are featured in the film. Derek’s story that the best journeys in life are walked by faith, and not by sight.

This year for our school Chapel theme, we have been teaching our students to “FROG” (Fully Rely On God). This theme was presented to our students in various ways during our chapel days, but noting more powerful than seeing what it means to “FROG” in real life!! Derek visiting our school and talking to our students about what it TRULY means to Fully Rely On God was the highlight of our chapel this year. Students left inspired, excited and changed!!! We are so grateful to Walking on Water Productions and Bryan Jennings for blessing our students by bringing the word of God to life!

This verse best represents our school and our mission for every child to leave our school believing and understanding that they are the Light of the World, because of Jesus’s light inside them. As a result, giving all the glory to God, for all they accomplish in life!
Through this process, students were read the entire verse and asked to mediate on each part. After ample time, they were asked to express how they interpreted the verse through art! The success of this art show is due to their openness to hear and see how God has revealed the verse to them individually. We are grateful Capo Beach Church has allowed our students to integrate the Word and art to bring further glory to His Kingdom!
Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world — like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.“

With weekly beach days, pool days, park days and fieldtrips to fun places like Knott’s Berry Farm, Legoland, county fairs, and water parks,  you will never hear those dreaded words, “I’m bored.” The small teacher-child ratio insures safety and quality care.

Welcome to Capo Beach Christian School! Capo Beach Christian School’s goal is to provide children with a biblical worldview while maintaining a high level of academic excellence and transforming the lives of children into the image of Jesus Christ.  Deuteronomy 6 says “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.”  At Capo Beach Christian School we provide not only a formal education but also stress the importance of spiritual development.  We thank you for partnering with us to see the lives of our families and communities changed by bringing God back into the classroom!
